Any word game lovers among The Aspiring Critic readers? Here’s one today (6)
Now that the 2021 Oscar nominations have been announced, The Aspiring Critic has looked at past Academy Award winners and realized that their names were buried in titles. That’s right — a number of familiar films, shows, books, and specials hold within their titles the last name of an Oscar winner — Best Actress or Best Actor. The Aspiring Critic has taken that concept and created a game. Want to play? Here’s how it works.
I have listed 26 titles below. Each one subtly or not so subtly contains the last name of someone who won as Oscar. For example, if Lana Turner had ever won (she did not) and you saw the movie “Turner and Hooch” in the list, you would clearly see her name. Or if Gloria Swanson ever captured the honor, you could find her last name across two words in the movie “Swan Song.”
Read the title, then identify the Oscar Winner whose name is included. Bonus points if you know the movie for which he or she won the Oscar. Most are pretty easy; some might present a challenge. But The Aspiring Critic readers are up to it! This isn’t a competition — everyone can win! Ready to tackle this word game! Here you go!
